Sipnosis
El director Tom Hooper, después de triunfar con 'El discurso del rey', se sumerge en la traslacción a la gran pantalla del musical del mismo nombre que tomaba como base la célebre novela publicada por Victor Hugo en 1862. La película narra la historia de Jean Valjean (Hugh Jackman, 'X-Men') y su particular camino de redención, desde sus días como prisionero en una cárcel hasta convertirse, con otra identidad, en alcalde de una ciudad francesa. Vlajean se hará cargo de la hija ilegítima de una mujer, Fantine (Anne Hathaway, 'El diablo viste de Prada') que es apresada después de ser obligada a prostituirse para poder ganar dinero con el que mantener a su criatura. Los años pasarán y esa niña se convertirá en la bella Cosette (Amanda Seyfried, 'Querido John'), al tiempo que las suspicacias del inspector Javert (Russel Crowe, 'Gladiator') crecerán en lo que respecta al pasado de Valjean.
