Sipnosis
im (Abigail Breslin) y su padre Jack (Gerard Butler) son los únicos habitantes de una remota y exótica isla. Aunque no va a la escuela, Nim ayuda a su padre a realizar diariamente anotaciones científicas, se ocupa de cuidar el huerto y de que el panel solar alimente el ordenador, a través del cual Jack se comunica con el mundo. Un buen día, tras la desaparición de su padre, Nim entra en contacto con una famosa escritora de novelas de aventuras (Jodie Foster) que irá a visitarla.
